Aggressive screen blanking with 13.1.0 build 35

Andrew Ruthven
Hey,

I've just updated an XO 1.75 to 13.1.0 build 35. But I've noticed that
it blanks the screen after 12 seconds of inactivity. Then approximately
30 seconds later it flashes the screen on and blanks it again a couple
of times then goes into suspend.

Is this known behaviour?

Can we change it?  12 seconds is pretty aggressive and makes it rather
difficult to use.

Cheers!

Do you have an early prototype XO-1.75 with no DCON memory? We have at
least one of these and the normal automatic power management is very
disruptive as you loose the display (the backlight remains on however).

I don't think I ever tested 13.1.0 build 35 so I can't comment on
whether it's suspend behaviour is unusual. 13.2.0 build 3 does what I
expect it to do (suspend after ~20 seconds screen blank after much much
longer).

Good spotting. I bet that's what Andrew is being hit with.

Andrew, what's the SKU of the unit? It will appear in the battery
compartment, together with the serial number barcode...

cheers,

Quite possibly. It is a XO-1.75 B1 - SKU 198.

My concern was that it might affect other users, but if it only affects
early prototypes that is of much smaller concern in my opinion. If it is
resolved in 13.2.0 I can start tracking that release on this unit.

Cheers!

Yes, SKU198 doesn't have DCON RAM.

#10916 has some additional history "only half of XO-1.75 B1s have DCON
RAM -- those that have mechanical keyboards." and "SKU-198 (which
don't have DCON RAM)".

And as this is pre-production hardware, with the problem in question
being a physical lack of a specific component on the motherboard, this
is not something that will be fixed by going to newer (or older)
software builds. Sorry about that. I suggest that you just turn off
automatic power management from the Sugar control panel to avoid the
annoyance.

Okay, I can live with that.  Thanks guys!
